TTU VICE CHANCELLOR CLOSES THE 2025 MOMBASA INTERNATIONAL ASK SHOW AS CHIEF GUEST

Theme: Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth.

The Vice Chancellor of Taita Taveta University, Prof. Fred Simiyu Barasa, was honored as the Chief Guest at the official closing ceremony of the Mombasa International Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show held yesterday.

Prof. Barasa was officially received by ASK officials led by National Chairperson, Council Members, Branch Chairpersons and Show Organizing Committee Members.

Prof. Barasa began his engagement by touring various exhibition stands, where he interacted with exhibitors and stakeholders showcasing innovations in agriculture, education, technology, trade, and community development. His tour highlighted the diversity of ideas and solutions that are shaping Kenya’s socio-economic growth.

In his closing speech, the Vice Chancellor commended the Agricultural Society of Kenya for this year’s successful show and applauded exhibitors for their creativity, resilience, and contribution to national development.

Prof. Barasa also emphasized the importance of research, innovation, and partnerships in addressing emerging challenges facing Kenya and the wider East African region. He reaffirmed Taita Taveta University’s commitment to driving knowledge, skills development, and practical solutions through training, innovation, and community outreach.

The Vice Chancellor further encouraged the youth and industry players to embrace this year’s show theme and leverage opportunities to contribute to Kenya’s long-term transformation agenda.

Taita Taveta University has affirmed its strong partnership with the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) by committing to become a life member of the Mombasa International Show. Speaking during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Mombasa ASK Show, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Fred Simiyu Barasa, underscored the University’s dedication to supporting agricultural innovation, research, and knowledge transfer. He noted that this commitment will strengthen TTU’s visibility, create more opportunities for collaboration, and enhance the institution’s role in driving sustainable development within the Coast region and beyond.

The event brought together national and regional exhibitors, government officials, business leaders, students, and community members, marking another milestone in showcasing Kenya’s potential in food security, education, and sustainable development.
