Prof. Cheruiyot Wilson Kipruto is a Professor of Engineering in Computer Application Technology from Central South University (CSU), Peoples’ Republic of China, Master of Science in Computer Application Technology from Central South University of Technology (CSUT), P.R. China, a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from Egerton University and a B.sc (Mathematics & Computer Science) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
Prof. Cheruiyot is currently the Dean, School of Sciences and Informatics (SSI), Taita Taveta University.
Prof. Cheruiyot has over 19 years experience in teaching and research in the field of Computer Science Engineering and Applications with specialization in the areas of Multimedia Big Data, Machine Learning, Distributed Systems, Information Security and Computing Research.
Professor Cheruiyot, who joined JKUAT in 2004, is a Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). He has attended several conferences and published widely in refereed journals, with has over 66 publications in referred journals.
Among the major consultancy work Prof. Cheruiyot has been engaged in is the Northern Corridor Integration Project (NCIP), where he was the ICT Core Team. This was regional Audit done jointly by Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan, and it was responsible for carrying out a comprehensive skills audit and analysis for the Development of the Human Resource Capacity Building (HRCB).

Prof. Cheruiyot has served as the Deputy Director in charge of Postgraduate Programmes from 2013 to 2016 in the School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT). During his tenure, he was very instrumental in the development of the PhD Computer Science and PhD (IT) courses that are currently running in SCIT.
In 2019, Prof. Cheruiyot got a chance to train the staff of the University of Lay Adventist of Kigali (UNILAK), Rwanda, on Fraud Detection, Investigation and Prevention in the Digital Era. The same course is currently being offered by Treasure Corporate Trainers International where he was the lead Trainer.
Since 2019, he has been a visiting and teaching Professor in Data Analytics, University of Rwanda. He has also been invited to several PhD Symposiums in the University of Rwanda, Kigali.
Prof. Cheruiyot has been an Administrator and Trainer in many institutions. In the process, he has developed many training courses that utilize Technology.
Currently, he applies Technology to train the following:
i). Fraud Tendering Detection, Investigation and Prevention;
ii). Smart City Monument using Technology;
iii). Staff Competent Skills;
iv). Time Management with Technology;
v). ICT Competencies for Management;
vii) Any other ICT Integrated Courses applied in Management and Business.

Between 2008 and 2017, Prof. Cheruiyot won international scholarships and research grants amounting to over $ 205,610, from the China Scholarship Council (CSC), to train PhD and M.Sc. JKUAT staff, and other Kenyan students, especially in the areas of Computer Science, Engineering and Business Related courses.
In terms of community engagement and contribution, Prof. Cheruiyot has been a member, Board of Governors, Nyeri Technical Training Institute, Masai Technical Training Institute.
