Following the successful election of delegates by the students yesterday, the 15 elected delegates convened today at the University Auditorium to elect the Students Association of Taita Taveta University Executive Council.
The results are as follows:-
- Chairman : Ewoton Francis (10 votes)
Vice Chair : Janet Chanzi - Secretary General : Monica Chepkoech (9 votes)
- Academic Secretary : Fredrick Awondo (9 votes)
- Treasurer : Julius Otieno Ouma (10 votes)
- Special Needs Secretary : Abigael Chepngeno (10 votes)
- Sports & Social Services : Secretary Joseph Mburu (10 votes)
In his closing remarks, the Chair of the Students Electoral Commission Dr. David Chikati expressed sincere appreciation to everyone who played a role in ensuring a smooth and credible election process. He thanked the aspirants for conducting campaigns peacefully.
Dr.Chikati thanked the entire electoral commission team including the security, media and the students for maintaining professionalism during the entire election process. He noted that the success of the exercise was a collective effort and a clear demonstration of maturity within the student community.
The Chair also called upon the newly elected leaders to celebrate their victory in a calm and respectful manner. He encouraged them to reach out to those who were not successful, promote unity, and work together for the common good of all students.
