TTU Explores Academic and Research Collaboration with FUTA, Nigeria

Prof. Christine Onyango – The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics, Research and Outreach) hosted Prof. Oladunni Alabi, a distinguished Professor of Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Nigeria, during a courtesy call aimed at strengthening academic and research linkages.

Prof. Alabi was accompanied by the Dean of the School of Mines and Engineering, Dr.-Ing. Nashon Adero. The meeting provided a platform for discussions on areas of mutual interest, including collaborative research, postgraduate training, staff and student exchange programmes, and joint initiatives in mining, mineral processing, and extractive metallurgy.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor welcomed the delegation and underscored the University’s commitment to expanding regional and international partnerships that enhance academic excellence, research output, and innovation. She noted that such engagements are critical in positioning the University as a hub for impactful research and industry-relevant training.

Prof. Alabi expressed appreciation for the warm reception and highlighted opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in advancing applied research, technology transfer, and capacity building in the extractive sector.

The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of both universities to fostering cross-border academic cooperation and contributing to sustainable development through research, innovation, and knowledge exchange.
