About the Department
The department of Arts and Social Sciences (A&SS) in the School of Business Economics and Social Sciences, offers courses that are tailored to respond to contemporary realities and the transformation of society. Our curriculum is designed to deepen understanding of our contemporary world by encouraging an inquiry into the persistent legacies of the past that shape our present and evolving futures.
The department aims at producing individuals who are capable of reflecting on cross-cutting social, cultural and political issues, understand complex societal dynamics and initiate transformative dialogue about the human condition. As such, A&SS offers students a cutting-edge opportunity to study how individuals and groups interact, social formations, societal transformation, the development of societal norms and values, and an inquiry into and engagement in policy making. Learners attain tools to navigate complex issues, promote social cohesion, envision and action a better future.
