About TTU
Taita Taveta University (TTU), otherwise known as the Home of Ideas, is a public university that has matured over the years and cut a niche that sets her apart as Kenya's university of mining and natural resource management. This position grants TTU a shared pedigree, tradition, and pride of place with world leading universities. TTU is governed by the University Council appointed by the Ministry of Education (MoE) as mandated by the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and the Universities Act No. 42 of 2012. TTU is mandated to advance knowledge through teaching and research, promote learning, and foster cultural and social life.
TTU's History
TTU opened her gates in 2007 as Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Taita Taveta Campus and later in 2011 was upgraded to a Constituent College until 7th October 2016 when it was granted a charter to become a fully fledged university.
Due to her very attractive courses, the university population has grown to over 3,500 students undertaking Masters', Undergraduate, Diploma and Certificate programs. The University has a constant presence of international scholars through its established international linkages with reputable Universities across the world.
Taita Taveta University (TTU) programs are guided by its Mission and Vision, and is proud to be a mining and mineral processing engineer's hub. TTU has five schools namely: The School of Mines and Engineering, The School of Business Economics and Social Sciences, The School of Science and Informatics, The School of Agriculture, Earth and Environmental Sciences and The School of Education.

Strategic Pillars
The strategy house presents the strategic focus for TTU showing the key pillars (Key result Areas) which the strategy is built on. At the apex is the Vision and Mission supported by three main pillars of Research, Academics, and Outreach. Institutional capacity, Resource mobilization and corporate governance form the foundational pillars for the strategic plan.
TTU Location
Taita Taveta University (TTU) is a fast-growing Institution located in Taita Taveta County on Voi-Mwatate road, about 8 kilometers from the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. It lies in a serene environment bordering Tsavo East National Park on the east and Tsavo West National Park on the North West, the home of the Red elephants.
