Each school provides competitive courses in line with Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the Millennium Development Goals and also with the labor market. Our flagship course is in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering and we pride ourselves as the University of mining in Kenya aiming to be a regional leader in this sector considering our location in mineral rich area.

Profile of the Acting Vice Chancellor

Prof. Hamadi Iddi Boga, is a full Professor of Microbiology/Microbial Ecology at JKUAT, Botany Department. He has a BSc, Botany and Zoology (Kenyatta University), MSc Microbiology (Kenyatta University), PhD Microbiology, (University of Konstanz, Germany), Post-Doc, Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology, Marburg, Germany. The Ag. VC is a scholar of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and a fellow of the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation. He is also currently the Ambassador Scientist for the Humboldt Foundation in Kenya. He has previously served JKUAT in various capacities including serving as the Chair, Botany Department (2002-2004), Director, Institute of Biotechnology Research (2005), Dean, Faculty of Science (2007). He has nearly 30 publications in a refereed Journals, has successfully supervised over 30 MSc and PhD students. Prof. Boga is an active researcher working on Microbial Ecology of Termites guts and soda lakes.

What We Do

The VC’s office is responsible for guiding the University towards attainment of its Vision, & Mission and realization of its Philosophy, Motto & Core values. The office is also tasked with managing people, data and processes and creating a climate hospitable to education and good work environment.
