  • What We Do:

    The Taita Taveta University Library recognizes importance of providing information services based on needs of the user community. TTU Library aims to provide quality scholarly information resources and services to meet needs and expectations of users. The library seeks to achieve this through acquisition and organization of selected information materials, creating an enabling environment to access the materials and by providing Information Literacy Programs on continuous basis.

    A short history of our department:

    The Library was established in September 2008 as a branch of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT) - Taita Taveta Campus. Throughout the years, the Library has continued to build the collection through purchase of recommended Information materials and Donations.

    Mission statement To develop, organize and preserve quality information resources in various formats to broaden teaching, learning and research activities and to meet information needs of the University.

    • All prospective or aspiring users must be registered as Library members.
    • All registered users will be required to carry Students/Staff identity cards whenever borrowing books and on demand by library staff.
    • Identification cards must not be lent to other people and loss of ID cards should be reported immediately to the circulation librarian after which appropriate action will be taken.
    • Certain materials may not be borrowed for use outside the library
    • Library materials shall not be taken outside the library unless officially issued.
    • The user in whose name a book is issued shall be solely responsible for returning it.
    • Materials borrowed from the library may be recalled. All users must ensure that books and other library materials recalled should be returned to the library within three days of recall.
    • Books loaned to other Library users may be reserved by filling reservation form.
    • Users wishing to borrow books which are not available in the library may be assisted through inter-library loan.  Use of such books will be subject to the conditions given by the lending library.
    • Undergraduates may borrow up-to 4 books at a time; Postgraduates, teaching staff, Senior Administrative and Senior Library staff up-to 5 books.  Other members of staff may borrow a maximum of three books at a time.
    • Loan period: Undergraduates shall be two weeks, Post graduate and all non-teaching staff one month and teaching staff one semester.
    • The loan for any book(s) may be reduced by the University Librarian depending on the demand.
